This photo by William Wyatt of one of his Swedish crucians, is particularly
interesting. The light shows off the "extra" high section of the body very well.
If you trace the line at the base of the illuminated top "hamper" you can see the
shape of a typical low-backed crucian.

A nice, high-backed 1½lbs specimen from John Hinkley
Thanks to Simon Baddeley for allowing the use of this picture. This lovely object
was gifted some 25 years ago to Simon's stepfather, Jack Hargreaves - an all-round
angler who made the '
Out of Town
' television programs. A carved fish to cherish,
though the lateral line scale count is a little short of what it should be! (33)
This beauty, caught by Niclas Fjärdsjö, came from the Baltic Sea
in spring 2011 and weighed 5lbs 2oz
